THE RESURRECTION CHANGED ME

I. INTRODUCTION — JESUS ENTERS WITH PURPOSE

Main Text — Luke 19:37–40 (NKJV)
“Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, saying: ‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!’ And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, ‘Teacher,

rebuke Your disciples.’ But He answered and said to them, ‘I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”

• The Triumphal Entry is not random celebration.
• Jesus is not receiving hype; He is revealing purpose.
• When the Pharisees tell Him to silence the crowd, Jesus responds:
“If these hold their peace, the stones will cry out.”
• That statement reveals two truths:• He is the purpose of praise.
• Crying out is the expression of that purpose.

Key thought:

Praise is not noise.
Praise is alignment.
Praise is my whole being responding to the One who is the purpose.

II. JESUS’ PURPOSE IN THE MOMENT

• He is entering as King, fulfilling prophecy.
• He is entering as Savior, heading toward the cross.
• He is entering as Lord, receiving what only God deserves.
• The people cry out because revelation demands response.

Point:

When Jesus is revealed, something must cry out.

III. THE PURPOSE OF PRAISE — MY WHOLE BEING RESPONDS

Jesus says “Cry Out”
— not whisper, not think quietly, not internalize.
Praise is a whole‐being expression.
The seven Hebrew words for praise show how every part of
me responds to Him.

IV. THE SEVEN HEBREW WORDS FOR PRAISE

1. HALAL — To boast, shine, rave, celebrate wildly

Meaning: Unrestrained celebration; to make God’s greatness visible.
Part of the being engaged: Emotion & energy
Purpose: “I refuse to mute what God has done.”

Psalm 150:1 — “Praise (HALAL) the Lord! Praise God in His
sanctuary…”

2.YADAH — To extend the hands in surrender or thanksgiving

Meaning: Hands lifted in agreement, surrender, or confession.
Part of the being engaged: The will
Purpose: “I align myself with who He is.”

Psalm 63:4 — “I will bless You while I live; I will lift up my
hands (YADAH) in Your name.”

3. TOWDAH — A sacrifice of praise; thanking God before the
answer

Meaning: Praise offered in faith, not sight.
Part of the being engaged: Faith
Purpose: “I trust Him even when I don’t see it yet.”

Psalm 50:23 — “Whoever offers praise (TOWDAH) glorifies Me…”

4. SHABACH — To shout loudly; to proclaim with a strong voice

Meaning: A bold, triumphant shout.
Part of the being engaged: The voice
Purpose: “I will not let the enemy narrate my atmosphere.”

Psalm 117:1 — “Praise (SHABACH) the Lord, all you nations!”

5. BARAK — To kneel, bless, bow in reverence

Meaning: To bow low in humility and honor.
Part of the being engaged: Posture
Purpose: “I lower myself so He can be lifted.”

Psalm 103:1 — “Bless (BARAK) the Lord, O my soul…”

6. ZAMAR — To make music; to praise with instruments

Meaning: Skillful praise through instruments and melody.
Part of the being engaged: Creativity & gifting
Purpose: “I bring my best expression to honor Him.”

Psalm 98:5 — “Sing praises (ZAMAR) to the Lord with the harp…”

7. TEHILLAH — A spontaneous, Spirit‐breathed song

Meaning: A new song that rises from the spirit.
Part of the being engaged: The spirit
Purpose: “I give God a sound that only my life can produce.”

Psalm 22:3 — “You are enthroned on the praises (TEHILLAH) of srael.”

V. WHY JESUS SAID “THE STONES WILL CRY OUT”

• Creation knows its purpose.
• Humanity often forgets its purpose.
• Praise is not optional — it is essential.
• If I don’t praise, something else will.
• But I was made for this.

Point:
Stones cry out by necessity.
Saints cry out by revelation.

VI. APPLICATION — PRAISING WITH PURPOSE TODAY

• Praise is not a style — it’s a response.
• Praise is not a personality — it’s obedience.
• Praise is not hype — it’s alignment.
• Praise is not noise — it’s purpose.

Your whole being has a sound:
• Your hands (YADAH)
• Your knees (BARAK)
• Your voice (SHABACH)
• Your spirit (TEHILLAH)
• Your creativity (ZAMAR)
• Your faith (TOWDAH)
• Your emotion (HALAL)

Point:
When Jesus enters, my whole being responds.

VII. CALL TO DECISION

• Jesus entered Jerusalem to save.
• He enters hearts the same way — as King, Savior, and Lord.
• The right response is praise, surrender, and faith.
• Today, don’t let stones cry out in your place.
• Let your whole being respond to the One who gave His whole being
for you.

Invitation:
“If He is the purpose, then praise is my response.
And today, I give Him my whole being.”
