Weekly Devotional - Created for His Pleasure
Focus Scripture
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."— Revelation 4:11 (KJV)

Day 1: Why Am I Here?
One of life's biggest questions is, "Why do I exist?"
Many people spend years searching for purpose in success, relationships, accomplishments, or personal fulfillment. Yet Scripture gives a remarkably simple answer:
We were created for God's pleasure.
That truth challenges the way our culture thinks. We often ask, "What makes me happy?" God asks, "What brings Me glory?"
This doesn't mean God is selfish. It means that the Creator knows we are most fulfilled when we live according to the purpose for which we were made. Just as a fish thrives in water and a bird thrives in the air, our souls thrive when we live for God.
The irony is that the more we seek His pleasure, the more we discover true satisfaction ourselves.
Reflection
Have I been living primarily for my own pleasure or God's?
What areas of my life need to be surrendered back to Him?
Prayer
Father, thank You for creating me with purpose. Help me live each day with the desire to honor You and bring You pleasure through my thoughts, words, and actions. Amen.
Day 2: From Consumer to Worshiper
Romans 12:1
"Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service."
Modern culture trains us to evaluate everything based on what we receive. We rate restaurants, review products, and compare experiences.
Unfortunately, that mindset can sneak into our relationship with God.
We may find ourselves asking:
Did I enjoy worship?
Did the message help me?
Did church meet my expectations?
But worship was never intended to be evaluated by the worshiper. Worship is evaluated by the One being worshiped.
When we gather with God's people, we are not the audience—God is.
True worship begins when our focus shifts from receiving to offering.
Reflection
What do I typically focus on when I attend church?
How can I become more intentional about offering God my worship?
Prayer
Lord, teach me to worship You with my whole heart. Help me focus less on what I receive and more on what I bring to You. Amen.
Day 3: Choosing Purpose Over Preference
Psalm 115:1
"Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory."
Preferences are not wrong. We all have them.
The problem comes when our preferences become more important than God's purpose.
God's purpose is always greater than our comfort.
David said, "I delight to do Thy will."
Jesus prayed, "Not My will, but Thine, be done."
Both understood that obedience often requires surrender.
A life God enjoys is not built around personal convenience. It is built around faithful obedience.
Reflection
Is there an area where I've been prioritizing my preferences over God's purpose?
What step of obedience is God asking me to take?
Prayer
Father, help me surrender my preferences whenever they conflict with Your purpose. Teach me to delight in doing Your will. Amen.
Day 4: From Critic to Contributor
Ephesians 4:16
"The whole body... makes the body grow."
It's easy to spot what's missing.
It's much harder to become part of the solution.
Healthy families thrive because everyone contributes. The same is true in the church.
Instead of asking:"Why doesn't someone do something?"
Perhaps God is asking:"Why don't you?"
The Church grows strongest when every believer embraces their role and contributes what
God has placed in their hands.
You don't have to do everything. But God is asking each of us to do something.
Reflection
Where can I serve more intentionally?
What gifts has God given me to strengthen His Church?
Prayer
Lord, help me move from criticism to contribution. Show me how to use my gifts to strengthen Your Church and serve others well. Amen.
Day 5: Living to Please God
2 Corinthians 5:9
"We make it our aim... to be pleasing to Him."
Paul understood something many believers miss:
The goal of the Christian life is not comfort. It is Christlikeness.
One day we will stand before the Lord. On that day, our greatest desire won't be personal accomplishment, popularity, or success.
It will be hearing Him say, "Well done."
Every decision we make today is shaping that future moment.
A life God enjoys is not a perfect life. It is a surrendered life. It is a life that continually seeks
His will, trusts His Word, and walks humbly before Him.
Reflection
If pleasing God became my highest priority, what would change in my daily life?
What is one practical adjustment I can make this week?
Prayer
Father, let pleasing You become the greatest aim of my life. Help me walk by faith, obey Your Word, and reflect Your character in everything I do. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Weekly Challenge
This week, before every major decision, pause and ask:
"Will this bring pleasure to God?"
Allow that question to shape your attitude, your choices, your relationships, and your worship.
Because the goal is not simply to enjoy God.
The goal is to live a life God enjoys.
