WEEKLY GROWTH PLAN —“Amazing Scandalous Grace” “FORGIVEN MUCH, LOVING MUCH”

  • MONDAY

“Two People, One Savior, Two Responses”

Scripture: Luke 7:36–50 (focus on vv. 39 & 47) *“Her sins, which are many, are forgiven—for she loved much.”
Devotional Thought: Two people sat with the same Jesus — the Pharisee and the sinful woman — but only one left changed. Simon analyzed Jesus. The woman adored Jesus. Simon judged her sin. The woman surrendered her sin. Simon offered no water, no kiss, no oil. The woman offered tears, kisses, and costly perfume. Same Savior. Same room. Two responses. Only one received grace.
Prayer: Am I approaching Jesus like Simon — guarded, evaluating — or like the woman, surrendered and grateful?

Breaking Through Barriers to Get to Jesus”

Scripture: Luke 7:37 *“A woman of the city… entered the house.”
Supporting Verses: Jeremiah 29:13 — “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” Hebrews 4:16 — “Let us come boldly to the throne of grace…” John 6:37 — “Whoever comes to Me I will never cast out.”
Devotional Thought: She wasn’t invited. She wasn’t welcomed. She wasn’t respected. But she came anyway. Desperation is stronger than disqualification. When Jesus is in the room, nothing else matters.
Reflection: What barrier — shame, fear, guilt, insecurity — do I need to push past to get to Jesus today?
Prayer: “Lord, give me courage to come to You boldly, no matter what tries to hold me back.”

    “Worship That Flows From Forgiveness”

Supporting Verses: Psalm 103:2–3 — “Bless the Lord… who forgives all your iniquity…” Psalm 51:17 — “A broken and contrite heart… You will not despise.” Romans 12:1 — “Present your bodies as a living sacrifice… this is your spiritual worship.”
Devotional Thought: Her worship wasn’t polished or professional. It wasn’t musical or structured. It was raw gratitude. It was love responding to mercy. Forgiven people become worshiping people.
Reflection: Does my worship reflect the gratitude of someone forgiven much?
Prayer: “Jesus, remind me of what You saved me from so my worship becomes wholehearted and sincere.”

    “Forgiveness That Transforms”

Scripture: Luke 7:48–50 *“Your sins are forgiven… Your faith has saved you… Go in peace.” Supporting Verses: 2 Corinthians 5:17 — “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…” Ezekiel 36:26 — “I will give you a new heart and a new spirit…” Revelation 12:11 — “They overcame… by the word of their testimony.”
Devotional Thought: Jesus didn’t just forgive her — He restored her identity, silenced her accusers, and gave her a future. Forgiveness is not the finish line. It’s the starting line of transformation. And transformation becomes testimony.
Reflection: Where is Jesus transforming me right now? What part of my story is becoming a testimony?
Prayer: “Lord, thank You for forgiveness that changes me from the inside out. Keep transforming my heart.”

    “When Grace Becomes Scandalous”

Scripture: Luke 7:39 “If this man were a prophet, He would know who and what sort of woman this is…”
Devotional Thought: Grace always offends the self-righteous. Simon couldn’t understand how Jesus could love someone so broken. But Jesus didn’t recoil from her sin — He redeemed her from it. Grace is scandalous because it reaches the people others avoid.
Reflection: Do I ever respond like Simon — shocked by who Jesus chooses to love?
Prayer: “Jesus, help me celebrate Your grace in others, not question it. Make my heart look like Yours.”

    “Forgiven Much, Loving Much”

Scripture: Luke 7:47 “The one who is forgiven much loves much.”
Devotional Thought: This is the whole story in one sentence. Forgiveness fuels love. Grace fuels worship. Mercy fuels devotion. The woman didn’t love Jesus to earn forgiveness — she loved Him because she had been forgiven. Your worship, your gratitude, your obedience — they all grow from remembering what Jesus has done for you.
Reflection: How can I express love to Jesus today in response to His forgiveness?
Prayer: “Lord, thank You for forgiving me much. Let my life overflow with love, gratitude, and worship.”
