A Life God Enjoys: Living A Life That's Pleasing God.

Were You Created to Be Happy or to Please God?
When most people leave church, they ask questions like:
Did I enjoy the worship?
Did the message encourage me?
Did I get anything out of today's service?
While those aren't bad questions, Scripture points us toward a much deeper one:
Did God enjoy what I offered Him?
It's a question that shifts our entire perspective.
Revelation 4:11 gives us the reason for our existence:
"For Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created."
Our lives were never intended to revolve around our own comfort, preferences, or personal fulfillment. We were created to bring pleasure to the One who created us.
We Were Created for God's Pleasure
The Apostle John was given a glimpse into heaven where every created being worshiped before God's throne. They all recognized one truth: they existed because of Him and for Him.
That truth hasn't changed.
Modern culture teaches us to pursue whatever makes us happy. Even Christians can unknowingly drift into asking God to bless our plans instead of asking how our lives can bless His heart.
Jesus continually modeled a different way of living.
He said in John 8:29,
"I always do those things that please the Father."
That was His greatest pursuit.
Consumer Christianity or Biblical Discipleship?
It's easy to approach church with a consumer mindset.
We evaluate everything by asking:
Was the worship my style?
Did I enjoy the message?
Were my needs met?
But biblical worship asks completely different questions:
Did I honor God today?
Did I offer Him my best?
Did my life reflect His character?
Romans 12:1 reminds us that worship is much more than singing songs.
It is presenting our entire lives as living sacrifices to God.
True worship isn't something we attend once a week. It's how we live every day.
Real Satisfaction Comes Through Becoming Like Christ
Our culture constantly promises satisfaction through success, possessions, entertainment, or recognition.
Yet none of those things can satisfy the deepest longing of the human heart.
Psalm 17:15 says,
"I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Thy likeness."
Our greatest satisfaction isn't found in receiving more from God.
It is found in becoming more like Him.
The closer we walk with Christ, the more our desires begin to reflect His desires. Our priorities change. Our perspective changes. Our lives become increasingly centered on bringing Him glory.
Jesus Showed Us What Pleases the Father
Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus continually submitted Himself to the Father's will.
He didn't speak His own words.
He didn't pursue His own agenda.
He didn't seek His own glory.
Everything He did flowed from obedience to the Father.
Even in the Garden of Gethsemane, when facing the cross, Jesus prayed,
"Not My will, but Yours be done."
His life reminds every believer that following Christ involves surrender, trust, and daily obedience.
Living a Life God Enjoys
Living for God's pleasure doesn't mean earning His love.
His love was already demonstrated through Jesus Christ.
Instead, our obedience becomes our response to His grace.
Every day we have opportunities to ask:
Does this decision honor God?
Do my words reflect Christ?
Am I becoming more like Jesus?
Is my life bringing pleasure to the One who created me?
Those questions move us beyond simply attending church.
They lead us into authentic discipleship.
The Invitation
Jesus never invited people to simply believe in Him.
He invited them to follow Him.
That means laying down our own ambitions, picking up our cross daily, and allowing God to shape us into His likeness.
When pleasing God becomes our highest priority, we discover something remarkable:
The joy we've been searching for has been found in Him all along.
